diy deer antler decor

i was thrilled to find these deer antlers at an estate sale in memphis this past weekend. i purchased each one for $5 a piece and then used a basic metallic silver spray paint that was $6 to paint them. i love how this turned out on our new coffee table (trunk):)

diy barrel table

we loved our barrel project!

the first picture shows the actual barrel at the nashville flea market that we purchased for $60. it was actually a barrel used in a donut factory. with reed's obsession with donuts we knew it was meant to be :).we didn't like the green felt top but we knew we could make it better.

details:
-dark furniture stain
-polyurethane satin finish
-80 and 120 grit sandpaper for sanding down the barrel first
-purchased a 2 foot diameter table top from lowes for the top of the table (we pitched the green one ha!)
-small blocks of wood to wedge the table top to the barrel

the two details we loved the most was the red barrel bands across the barrel and the factory imprint. we wanted to keep these two details in the piece to give off that rustic feel we were looking for.

the last few pictures show our barrel table in our living room. we used it for an end table with our couches. we love how this turned out.

enjoy!

diy floating shelves

i know you are normally supposed to have an odd number of shelving buttttt we decided we only wanted two shelves for the kitchen. i wanted butcher block shelving somewhere in the house and  i am so glad we used them in the kitchen.

reed made these shelves by purchasing (3) 1x4's at 8ft long, a sheet of plywood 1/8 of an inch thick, 2x6 board (for backing of shelves), finishing nails, wood screws, dark stain, and polyurethane satin finish.
he whipped these up in no time, and we love how they turned out!! you can also add your dinner dishes & bowls or whatever you would like.

paw was also a big help,as you can see.
happy diy wednesday!
